I am sure you’ve heard it before…your most important relationship is the one you have with yourself. (Some of you may say with God, and if that is your truth, then, for the sake of this article, please consider that a level even higher than what I am calling your “most important” relationship)
So…let me ask…How is your relationship with you?
How do you know?
The easiest way to find out is to think about how you treat yourself all day.
As you start to do something – what thoughts pop through your head? Are they uplifting, confident? or do they doubt your ability, your value and invite fear in?
What is the soundtrack of your mind? Is it a beautiful “symphony” of good feeling thoughts? The beauty of the silence of being “in the flow”?
Or is it a replay of other peoples harsh words, criticisms and doubts?
Another test:
Try this – Look in the mirror for 2 minutes and near the end tell yourself “I love you”. Can you do it? (Some people find this hard to do!)
If you found those challenging, it’s time to focus on rebuilding your relationship with you.
How do you create a good relationship with yourself?
My friend, and mentor, Andy Dooley has a great system called Vibration Activation, and part of the system includes – when negative or non productive thoughts run through your mind – telling yourself “Stop, Cancel, Clear”. It’s a great start to quieting your mind, and ending the negative chatter. Then shift your thoughts to what you WANT, instead of what you don’t.
Spend a few days in this space, catching and shifting your negative thoughts as they come in, and spending some time in front of the mirror. You’ll be surprised at how it makes you feel.
